We were invited to the grand opening of the Traverse City Whiskey Co. They at 201 E 14th St, Traverse City, MI 49684. It was so great to see them officially open their door with a still house and tasting room. We celebrated by taste testing their great cocktails and whiskies. After, there was a nice ribbon cutting ceremony. A huge congrats goes out to Chris & Moti!
Mel and I had a blast at Layne and Zach’s wedding. It was a beautiful weekend up north celebrating such a great couple. The reception site was gorgeous and surrounded by a cherry orchard. It was clear Layne and Zach had the best day ever. Congrats you two!
We had another great weekend in Traverse City. It was full of activities like wake surfing, skating and paddling. The weather has amazed this summer.
One of the highlights was driving down the two-track to the mini in the woods. We unfortunately didn’t get to skate it for very long but it was really fun and I can’t wait to go back.
I finally got to ride where Mel took her first kiteboarding lesson. It was a spectacular day! We made our way to Elk Rapids, Michigan to find the kiting location. the kite spot was over a mile away from the vehicles. We packed our gear and started the journey through a trail in the woods until we reached the sandy shores of East Bay. From there we paddled north to the point.
The wind was light when we arrived. I kited on the standup board for 30-45 minutes until the wind picked up to perfect 12m conditions. I played in the pool for a bit. It was great to ride in flat water again! We got Mel out and cruising for a while and we rode until the end of the day. It was a very long journey back to the cars but well worth it! Thanks to Edgar for shooting.
Had a such a great time wakeboarding on the 4th. I met up with the Walsh/Droste/Thane crew for a fun session. Hunter was just destroying it. It was really fun to watch him ride. We wakeboarded for a few pulls and then wakesurfed for a bit after that. Always a good way to start the day.
I had a great day of snowboarding in Northern Michigan. Mike and I meet up with Nathan and his friends. We hiked at two locations and had an absolute blast! The snow was amazing.
At the first location we rode, the snow was easily knee-thigh deep and untouched. The second place was a bit tracked out, but we still found a couple fun lines.
We headed north this weekend for the Cherry Festival Race and more time with Mel’s family. We had a really fun time catching up with everyone at the lake and downtown.
It was another great trip up to Northern Michigan. We spent time at the lake with friends and family. Cruised through the cherry festival and some even ran a race. We had great weather the whole time. Here are a few pictures…
It was a terrific weekend in Traverse City Michigan. Mel ran in the Bay Shore Marathon. It was a beautiful early morning on the bay, to head down to go cheer her on. Later in the weekend, we had time to meet up with friends, play volleyball, golf and even got some kiteboarding in. It was also hard to not notice the low level of the traverse bay.
Though there was a south wind most of the weekend (that i’m sure was pushing out some of the water), there were many docks that were completly out of the water. This was a bit startling to see such seemingly drastic changes in water level on the Grand Traverse West Bay.
