Jimmy Buffet in Hatteras
Jimmy Buffet is currently on a surfing trip trough the East Coast. The REAL crew meet up with Buffet down in the BVIs a few years ago, and Jason and Buffet have kept in touch. Jason got a call yesterday letting him know that he would be in town today. Jimmy Buffet has the ultimate surf trip vehicle. Slezak took Buffet on a guided tour of Hatteras on Buffets seaplane. After Buffet came by and some of the crew headed to the south side for some surf action.

The Daily Donkey
I came across a particularly funny website this weekend. Its called “The Daily Donkey”. Jason, Trevor and I were having a beer after our Slick Session and I happened to come across this website. We spent the next hour and a half checking out nearly every post before we couldn’t take it any more. It’s a website dedicated to poking fun at bad style. It seems like the guy has a real thing against Standup Paddleboarding and surf camps. I wonder what he would think about REAL’s SUP camps? It’s filled with hilarious pictures and some of the worst surfing videos the internet has to offer. Those of you with some surfing knowledge will find the site more entertaining than others. It’s not just the picture or video that makes it work, it’s his comments to the ordeal. Only if your in a great mood check out some of the posts here:

Summer in November
Summer was back for a day in November. The SoutWest wind picked up around 1pm. Just before that Claire and I dragged out half of the REAL Slider Park up into The Slick. As the day went on the wind filled in more and more. It was a great day! The entire REAL Crew was out sessioning along with some out of towner’s having a ball. At one point I counted over 35 kites from The Slick as far north as I could see.
I pumped up early to take a few hits on the JWCF Slider before heading in to change my kite gear for a camera. I took a couple good shots before the sunset. This was a session needed by all, since the cold settled in the last few weeks.

Imagine SUPs
Imagine surfboards used a shot of Julien that i took during one of the good waves session in Hatteras this fall. This is one of his new designs for Standup Paddleboards. -
Surfs up
Sam, Jason and Julien headed out for a quick surf session during lunch. I stayed about 20 minutes after deciding not to paddle out. I grabbed a couple shots of them getting the three waves in the 20 minutes of me being there. I get back to work to find out that it started firing after I left the beach. That is the way surfing seems to be, “you should have been here an hour ago the waves were pumping”.

SUP on Hwy 12
The rain has yet to hold off making it some 48 hours of straight rain. I think Cape Hatteras now has a monsoon season. Today I did not take my usual lunch beak, it was more of a session, but not your typical session in the Sound, Ocean, or the occasional nap session. This session was more of a mission and long time goal of mine to shoot SUPing down Hwy 12 in Cape Hatteras, NC when it flooded. Today was the day!
It was just going to be me and Zack Johnson, but the more people heard about the little adventure the more people wanted to join. By the time we headed out the door for lunch the roster included: Zack Johnson, Jason Slezak, Julien Fillion, Neil Ondrako, Claire Lutz and Dave Rakes. All went well minus the drizzling rain and the 30-40 knot winds. But the roads were flooded and that’s what we needed to get the shots. I’m stoked on how they came out though I have a bunch of ideas for next time. Heading South on 12 was the easy part, getting back upwind, well turned a little goofy.

24 Hours of Rain
A massive storm hovered along the coast of the Outer Banks today. It has been raining for nearly 24 hours now. The wind has been blowing E, SE at 20-50 also for the past 24 hours. This caused the water in the sound to push away from shore causing the rails and skies in the boat basin to his bottom.
I didn’t even bother taking my camera out of the house today, though i would later regret it as the sunset was spectacular. When the sun started to set the storm did not cover too much over the Pamlico sound so the Sun was able to light everything a gloomy yellow. We then got word ofAfter then seeing the most solid double rainbow every over the Ocean (taken with my pocket cam).
I didn’t think it could get better, but it did. We went to go check out the rest of the sunset and it was still pouring rain but the clouds over the sound light up.
