  • Mojo’s Grand Opening

Last night (10/10) was the Grand Opening of Mojo’s Sunset Café. A good buddy of mine Steve opened up a restaurant in the far northeast corner of the REAL shop. To coincide with REAL’s Swap Meet, having world renown shaper Pat Rawson and master waterman Robby Naish in town Mojo’s had a killer opening party to celebrate. They brought in Mojo Collins a rather well known and amazing blues musician to start things off right.

Mojo played a lengthy set to himself and then slowly added other to the Jam. Such additions as Matt Lane (local surfer and REAL employee) on Drums, and Pat Rawson on keyboard, a sax, harmonica, and bass made the atmosphere ecstatic. The guys jammed well into the night making it one of the best events Real has put on. I was able to capture a couple photos in between shooting video (should be edited later this week).

  • Color Pallet | Waterman’s Retreat

The Waterman’s Retreat is quickly being constructed. The condo owners now have a tough decision to make, how to decorate their penthouse? In order to help ease that question, color pallet options were designed. The layout was put together to help the owner associate the color name to the image of the actual product. The kitchen and baths were separated into tables, for the two pallet options, with the color names and referencing number to the number in the image above.

This is a window graphic done for the REAL Watersports Flagship Store. The photograph is of REAL and Liquid Force Team Rider Brandon Scheid. The shot was taken last spring in The Slick. Brandon is doing a massive switch s-bend. Its nice to see a shot next to window graphics from Nixon, O’Neill and ROXY.

  • Pat Rawson in Cape Hatteras

Today Pat Rawson came to Cape Hatteras for the rest of the week. Pat Rowson had been a surfboard shaper for many many years. Check out Pat’s site HERE. He is a very nice and approachable guy. He talked at the REAL Night School joined by Jason Slezak. They talked about designing surfboards specifically designed for kiting, why and how they differ.

  • Trip to Michigan

The past week I headed back to Michigan. It was a good trip, though it turned a bit chilly. I was able to be with both family and friends. I scored a wake session on the Grand River, while Melissa took a couple pics. I also did a very quick group shot of the Michigan State University Water Ski and Wakeboard Team before the home coming parade.

  • Sunset Wakeboard Session

I was about to head up to the airport to head home for vacation when i stepped out of work and saw the sunset and some of the guys out wakeboarding. Billy Barker, Andy Hurdman and some of their friends were out riding in the backyard of REAL. They had both the REAL Kicker and the JWCF Slider out. I hung out and watched the guys ripping it up. I grabbed my camera as soon the sunset got good. Mike from FL was out riding and throwing ollie threes over the dock. I ran back to my truck to get the strobes and booties to trudge through the muck in the Sound. I was very excited to get at least one decent action shot out of the night and a couple portraits of some friends..

  • September Nor’Easter

The Nor’Easter is still here in Cape Hatteras, NC. Its been about a week straight of 30-40 knot winds and head high seas. I spent the morning in Frisco with Jason Slezak, Sam Bell and Chris Delp filming their session at the bath house. After work a bunch of us headed to the Rodanthe Pier. The Pier was rocking in the waves but it was worth the adventure. We all headed out to the end of the pier with waves crashing onto the pier.

  • MI in Hatteras

A couple buddies of mine from MI rolled into Hatteras on Saturday morning at 6am. We headed down to Diamond Shoals for some breakfast. Then it was straight to Kite Point to session. We rode there from 8am to 3pm straight. I took a hand full of sessions at KP and then walked across the street to the ocean and took a very fun ocean session in head high clean surf. Then it was back to KP for a very powered wake session. I also tested the new blade kites as well as the 2009 Helix. We headed back to my place to grill out. Then it was to Dave Loop’s (who is in town for the week) and rode the new 2009 Fuel.

  • 2009 Havoc and Influence Shoot

Jason Slezak, Brandon Scheid and myself headed down to Kite Point to shoot a shot video. While we were down there I got to test some of the new Liquid Force 2009 Kite gear. I rode Jason’s 10m 2009 Havoc and his proto 138cm Influence. I really enjoyed both the kite and the board. The proto was much looser than the mission. It also went up wind much better. The Havoc felt like it turned a little more like a “C” Kite does. It also seemed to turn a little faster than the 2008s.

After the testing I shot a couple pics of Brandon, Trevor and Lulu in the KP Pool.
