  • Shooting with Dre

Dre and I headed out once again to grab some photos while he is still here. We took out the JWCF Slider on 7/27 to try a couple new ideas. The session wound up going sour to say the least. But I was able to grab a couple shots.

On 7/29 I headed up to the slick to shoot with Sam Bell to grab a couple photos he wanted, then hung out and shot with Brandon and a couple other riders who were up there, and scored a very cool nuclear-glide shot. We headed out to the goofy pool of The Slick to shoot with the REAL Kicker. I grabbed a couple keepers and nearly took Dre’s wakeskate to the chest. Here are a couple shots from the session:

  • Jimmy Lewis/REAL Business Card

    BRYANELKUS_15162

This was a business card designed for REAL’s Jimmy Lewis wholesale representative. There was not a whole lot of room to deviate on this project, however the 15pt double-sided clay coat gives the card an impressive feel in your hand. The clay coat gives you a smooth soft feel to your hand, while the 15pt board gives terrific rigidity. The front of the card displays the representative’s contact information along with REAL’s Company information and logo top-centered on the card. The back of the card had Jimmy Lewis’ logo centered and full framed to give the best exposure, while not be covered up by finger when holding the card.

  • Weekend, Surf shots

It was a crazy weekend. Saturday morning was spent at the beach surfing at Ramp 23. Sunday we went kiteboarding after I had to go in to take photos, of all the Liquid Force 09 Gear before Julien left town, for work of which half didn’t come out because of faulty gear, so that was a bit frustrating. Scott, Carrie and I took Mel and Anne-Marie on a downwinder from SDA to REAL. After lunch/dinner we went back to REAL to take out the slider. It was a pretty bad session overall and we will have to just leave it at that. Here are some photos from the surf session from Julien’s Camera.

  • Sunset SUP

It was another picture perfect sunset in Hatteras tonight. Anne-Marie and I headed down to the sound to take a couple Standup Paddleboarding photos around 8:00. It was just before the sunset as we pulled in. We unloaded the board and got her going as i set up the gear. Then we shot for about 15-20 minutes as the sun was setting.

  • JWCF Slider Session

After a long debate between taking out the Slider or the Kicker, Stuckey and I took a session. We decided on taking out the JWCF Slider. It turned out to not be the best session as it was an overpowered gusty and had shifting winds, but we still had a good time. There was a photog there taking some shots, it was terrible light, but here are a couple of the better photos.

  • Tropical Strom Cristobal

Tropical Strom Cristobal proved to give much more than it took. Most of us were expecting inches of rain to fall. The Storm had little effect on Cape Hatteras other than proving steady 20-25knot SE wind and waves all day Sunday. I took a downwind kite session with Scott and Carrie in the head high waves on a 8m and surfboard. It was a very fun session though not the best conditions for a goofy footer.

Here is a shot of the storm passing over Waves, NC

  • Shot Brandon in KITEWORLD

The new Kiteworld #34 Magazine came in today. Not only am i in the photo on the cover but they ran my shot of Brandon in the Slick from last year. I really like this photo of Brandon. Its a pretty legit indy grab but really like the fact that it is full rig and in some very flat water.

  • Photo on Surfline.com

Between all the closeout sets, storms, light conditions, windy conditions and work it didn’t leave a lot of time to shoot the surfing. I did shoot for about an hour on sunday at Mirlo along with a couple other photogs. I snapped only a handful of shots. Surfline covered the story like they do most swells and choose to use one of my shots. Surfline’s choice was the image below:
