  • New Camera

Well its been a while, Ive been waiting for pictures of the break to arrive, but i am still waiting. I decided to get a new camera for my trip to the BVIs. Ill be headed down there for work on jan 15 for 21 days. So i figured that i should get a cam of my own to document the travels. I picked up the Olympus 790sw. So far i am relatively impress for a pocket camera. Its waterproof so it should allow me to get some good shots while im down there.

    yesterdays session:
it was pretty gloomy out but we had an amazing morning surf and then rode at KP for a couple of hours.

Here are a couple shots from the last two days.

  • weekend Wrap Up

Well It was a cold one. Not many seesions to be had. It was blozing 40 + and large head + speedy barrels. I stayed on the beach this weekend. Sundays was the best when the front cleared and the sun came out for the 15 surfers at the third jetty. Lane got some sweet shots, while the 200mm lens was sent in for cleaning. But here are a couple shots from the weekend.

  • Lighthouse SUP session

I headed out with Zack to shoot and practice with the waterhousing today. the light was good at the start and then went down hill from there. Zack took the camera for a couple waves. It was a bit chilly but we stayed out for a good 2+ hours. The waves were very fun maybe waist high. Here are a couple shots from the session:

  • 07 Zero 2 Hero Graduate

    I just finished another video:

Given very little time to shoot and edit this piece, I thought it came out pretty well. It showcases Bill DeGeorge a “Zero 2 Hero” Graduate who after only 8 months is downlooping transitions and riding very well.

  • Kiteboarding on Epic Conditions

The Weather Channel came to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. They work with REAL to produce an episode of Epic Conditions. I played the point person between REAL and the film crew helping them get the shots that we knew would work the best. It was one of the most fun productions that I was able to be a part of. Sam and Enily had good parts in the video. They crew brought in a helicopter to get aerial shots. I was honestly a little worried about how the show would turn out as some times production teams don’t know how to portray kiteboarding. The episode turned out amazing. The episode portrays Cape Hatteras and kiteboarding in a great manner. The episode is broken up into 3 parts:

    Episode 2
    Episode 3

  • weekend update

well we have been getting in some decent session the last few days. The light house had been fun with knee to waist waves pefect for some hack sessions. But, all of out swell is no were to be seen. i think its all gone to west Ireland were their forecasting 50-99ft waves:

Here are a couple shots that Bill DeGeorge took. first on is a front roll. The sesond i pulled on the wrong hand and send the kite instead of a downloop and then my leash broke and i got to swim (thannks to Lane from grabbing my kite!).

  • Weekend Wrap Up

Thursday we headed to Kite Point for a very gusty session. But it was still a blast non-the-less. It had been a while since we all rode so it was still a good session. Lulu, Dave, John, and GS were all there. The Fam came in for the weekend for Thanksgiving. Saturday I snuck in a short session at the lighthouse with thigh high waves and more gusty winds. Sunday I grabbed a couple shots of Zack out on the 9’9 and a 13m waroo. He was killing it unhooked in the waves.

  • 08 Waroo vs 08 Nemi

I Headed out to KP yesterday after work to catch a session. I headed out on a 06 13m fuel and quickly became over powered. I came in to pump up when i saw that dave hade both the 08 nemi and waroo ready to go. So i tried them back to back. It was blowing about 25 so i was well powered on the 9m kites. I liked the feel of the waroo better. It seemed to tuen slower than the nemi. It was just slow to initiate the turn, once you got it turning it turned wuickly. The Nemi was more powerful than the waroo in the same size kite (9m). But the Nemi seemed to be not stay where you thought the kite was. I constantly had to look at the kite to make sure it was were i thought it was. I dropped the Waroo and seemed to relaunch just fine. I forgot to drop the nemi however. for my first ride on both of these kites i would choose the Waroo over the Nemi.

  • Hotel Afternoon Surf

Well it was still big out there, infact it was getting larger. The swell was hitting the beach pretty dead on which made it imperative to pick your wave carfully. And it only got larger as the day went on. There were a bunch of guys out. Dave Lewis, Tommie, GS and I went out. I took a couple shots ebfore paddling out. John was also there waiting for the wind and taking some pics. he grabbed a couple of me eating it bad that he will be sending.
