  • Hotel Morning Surf

Hatteras is firing. I turned out of my street and ran into GS who was heading out to the Hotels. He said that it was going off. So i got really excited, and he wasnt lying. The waves are shoulder to head +. The Hotels were a bit more packed than usual with there being no school, but still managed to snatch a couple good waves before heading into work. Tommie, Dave and GS rounded out the crew.

  • Hotel Surf

Dave Lewis, Tommie, Zack, GS and I went to the Hotels to surf. It was a very fun session with plenty of long lefts comming in. It was about waist to chest high and I rode the 7′ Destroyer which seemed to be a great shape for those waves.

  • lighthouse Surf 4

The sessions have been starting to become scarce as the weather start to get colder. It makes it tough to get in the water for small surf when its so cold. But having it been a while it didn’t matter and it was time for a session no matter what. Ryan and I headed out to the Lighthouse for our split yesterday. I rode the 11’ Standup and ryan was on the 8’ Destroyer. I had a blast on the SUP in the thigh to occasional waist sets.

Zack, Dave, Tommie and Myself headed out to the lighthouse again for morning surf. I got to ride Zack’s 9’9 and had a great time. That board can catch any wave.

PS. I met the Co-Founder of Slingshot today.

  • Lighthouse Surf 3

Ryan and I took a Split and headed to the lighthouse again for round two. I took some shots and ryan surfed. It was a lot of fun but the wave dropped in size by about half from this morning.

  • Weekend Wrap Up

Friday I headed up the Virginia Beach with nick and dave for a very interesting night. We made it home Saturday in time to ride. The swell was supposed to hit Saturday but when I went to look at it there was nothing, it was maybe ankle high. So I went to KP and rode there juiced on a 7m fuel and a wakeboard. Sunday I woke up early and headed to the hotels for some side off head high wave action. Tommie and I kited there for a good 3 hours until we couldn’t make a bottom turn with out falling. Zack came out to take a couple shots but we were riding at a bad time and all the shots were blown out. Lane was also there shooting so hopefully he will send over some shots later. After that I took a break and headed to the lighthouse to take some shot. Ryan, Eric, Tommie and I headed out Monday morning to the lighthouse to find our selves in a pack of nearly 40 surfers out for the holiday. There were some crazy tube rides going on, it was quite a site to see.

  • Kite Point Session

Nick an I headed out for an early morning kiting session at Kite Point today. I pumped up my 17m fuel and was well powered for a while on my mission. About a 45minutes later the wind kicked up and i was certifiably lit out of my mind. Not to mention the weather has become increasingly cold as is it across the States. I wore my shorty which proved to be rather chilly at times, as the 4 days of NE 50 knot winds decreased the temperature in the sound significantly. This session maybe one of the last in a shorty for a long while. That was my morning session.

  • Hurricane Noel

It was one heck of a weekend once again. Hurricane Noel flew by the Banks Friday and Saturday, which made for some fun in water.

Friday. I spent Shooting video and photos. I headed up to waves to follow Slezy, Ryan and colin on a downwinder from S turns to the shop. The wave were massive and the wind cranking. Colin was riding a 3m Waroo! Yeah it was that windy. After that I headed down the washout to catch up with the rest of the locals. GS, Dimitri, George and Tommie were out riding some very large tubes. After some intense action it was back to the shop where we learned there was no power on the island.

Saturday. The power was back on and so were the wind and the waves. It was too off shore to go kite anywhere and have a decent chance of survival so Tommie, Zack, nick and I went to the bathhouse in frisco for the day. The waves were Huge, so huge zack and Tommie headed out to surf the second break, which is a couple hundred feet off the end of the pier. They were catching some very long rides. Nick and I decided to head out later that day on the Standup Paddleboards. It was pretty tough getting through the first breaks but once threw there it was smooth sailing other than the couple feet over head waves that were coming at you. I paddle around for a while with no luck of catching any waves due to the amount of wind coming off the face of the waves. Nick managed to catch a few. The ride back to shore was nothing less than a miracle. I dropped in on a head high barrel nose-diving the board and had the paddle ripped out of my hand. I made it back to the board and started paddling into shore and the paddle popped up right in front of me. After that I called it a day.

Sunday. We headed back down to the washout for some surf action. It was pretty much the same deal as yesterday but with out the wind. I scored some of the largest waves ive ever seen let alone rode. It was a great session to say the least. I headed to the Lighthouse in the afternoon to scope out the waves. They finally looked good, but they were way to massive for me so I decided to shoot some stills. Nick grabbed the camera and shot some video and i did a quick 10 minute edit. The surfers were killing it, getting some large tubes and rides on the largest waves ive seen in person. It turned out to be a fantastic weekend.
