  • Leaving MI for a while

    Hey everyone (KiteMI.com post),
Well graduation in a week away. I just wanted to let you all know that I’m moving down to hatteras. I took a job with Real kiteboarding in the media/marketing dept. So, ill be playing with cameras and computers like its really my job. Ill probably have to go kiting too. But I’m going to miss riding with all of you. I’m not heading down there until feb. So, hopefully we can all get together for some snow kiting or some boarding before I leave. I hope to see a lot of you down there on trips with Brian Lefeve, GLK and Klye of the D or any other way you can head down there. Let me know if your heading down and ill try and get some time off. I hope all is going well for everyone. I’m going to finish up the video after schools down when I can sit down and concentrate for a couple days and once I get all the footage.

  • The Shop Midnight Sale ’06

The Shop put on their annual Midnight sale and snowboard event. It was a huge turn out. Much bigger than last years, without a doubt. This year it featured a scaffolding drop in to a wall ride. It was a blast! See some of the action below:

Thursday was too cold to ride without booties and gloves so we headed to the tiki to hang out and watch the game on the tv. Friday wykoff dressed up and headed out for a tack and jump on the water and then we all called it a day. He was totally lit on a 9m. Friday evening is when most of the rest of the crew came up. We did the hole bash thing and then got up and rode sat morning with everyone. I got GLK rookie of the year. I was very excited about that. Brian hooked me up with a bunch of gear and stickers. It was cold but not too bad to have everyone ridign for a few hours. ThenI headed to Grand Rapids for the Midwest What! video premiere. It was a blast. It was great to see all of marc’s had work come together for everyone to see. There were hundreds of people there, im not sure of the offical count yet but it was high.

  • LSP and WL weekend

So it was another amazing weekend. Wykoff, paul and I headed to the blue bird sky’s of the west side for the weekend. We arrived at little sable point around 9 to the slightest breeze. No longer than a half hour later it was cranking. We pumped up the big kites and we were lit. We rode super powered on the big kites for a couple hours. We couldn’t hold down the kite any more so we put up the 13m kites. I had a great session on my 13 playing un hooked for a while. I tried a couple kiteloops, which didn’t end too well. WE did a downwinder with dave and sarah all the way to the end of the sand dunes. Lets just say it was a long walk back. We hit up the brown bear for dinner. They have some terrific burgers. We drove to noah’s place for the night. We watched kiteboarding videos until late. We woke up a sun break and headed to the beach to put up our small kites. We wound up doing four down winders. Thanx noah and paul. The first session I rocked out on the surfboard. I had a blast on it and definitely need to get one. Nest were the downwinders. Then sarah and dave showed up so we did another one. After getting back we put up the big kites for a super powered session at the pier. Got some get video and learned new tricks what a great weekend.

this could be the last of the comfortable weekends, but again I said that 3 weeks ago. but heres is the forcast for this weekend (the GLK kitemare): I NEED A SMALLER KITE!!!!!!

  • 3rd place Corrugated Design

The results are in and I recieved 3rd place for my entry to the corrugated design competition.  Check the AICC winners HERE.

These wall pieces were made out of corrugated board.  Both single and double walled board were used to create a difference in texture.  Ardios and Auto-CAD was used to design these designs.  Then using the Ardios cutting table the pieces were cut out. Each piece was then adhered together to create each wall hanging.

    Here is the email:

    Dear Bryan:

On behalf of Chip Schiffenhaus, Chairman of the AICC Corrugated Packaging Design Committee, I congratulateyou on winning third place in the Corrugated as Art category in AICC’s 7th Annual Student Corrugated Packaging Design Competition.

More than 20 entries were received this year from students in the U. S. and Canada. In addition, the quality, innovation and creativity of these entries were considered outstanding. You should be very proud to have been a part of this year’s competition.
