The night we got back from the Hood River Trip, Cape Hatters saw some very crazy storms roll through. I was told it has been stormy all week we were gone but I was able to catch a couple shots before it was completely dark.

Hood River, OR Part II
The event was a blast. I some how made it into the event which was really cool, but I gave up my spot in order to shoot the event. They named it the Ro-Sham-Throw Down. The event went well even with the gusty winds. They had a great turnout. We spent most of the time on the Sand Bar, which is where the event was held. Aaron Hadlow took first followed by Brandon Scheid and Billy Parker. After the event was over the crew rallied 3 days in a row for shooting in 7m weather. We got a ton of work done. It was a lot of work but still really fun!
The last day we were taken to a non disclosed location to kite a secret spot. It was on a river with a raging current, which made for an extremely interesting session for the REAL Team. All in all it was an amazing trip out West.

Ro-Sham-Throw Down Hood River Slider Jam Part 1
The next day we made it back to Hood River after another great day of sessions on the coast. Later we found out it was a great choice as there was no wind in hood river those two days. They held the qualifiers for the Ro-Sham-Throw Down. I decided to ride in the qualifier along with Brian “BCS” Smith and a bunch of the other really good kiters like Sam Light, Rick Jensen etc…The first heat went well with great 12m winds, by the time the it was our heat the wind started to get crazy. It was up and down and very inconsistent. I don’t think I was able to hit one thing before the wind died out for the day. But it still made for a very fun day.
Since the kiting was done we hit up the skate park for a while and ended the day with some not so good Chinese food.

Kiteboarding the Oregon Coast
After arriving into Portland late on Monday night, Jason Slezak picked me up and we headed out to meet up and party with Joby. We had a really fun night. The next morning Chris Stuckey, Brandon Scheid and I hit up the skate park. We then grabbed some lunch and got a call from Julien Fillion & Tekko. We made the decision to head out to the Oregon Coast. Three hours later we arrived to a hazy beautiful coastline. Tekko and Julien were already out kiting by the time we arrived. It was rather chilly but perfect 12m winds and overhead rollers. We were out there until dark.

Traverse City Cherry Festival Race
Team Roney entered the 2010 Cherry Festival race in full force. I was there to document as they did all the hard work! There were some 4-5,000 runners in the event. I was glad to report everyone on the team finished the race most with personal bests. Luckily the humidity held out for most of the morning allowing for a pleasant run. The rest of the day was spent relaxing at the beach!

A Week in Traverse City, MI
It has been a fantastic week in Traverse City, Michigan. We headed up there to visit with Mel’s family. The whole crew was there. We spent the week hanging out in the amazing Michigan summer weather. Mel and I even scored a great kite session on Lake Michigan. We drove to Point Betsie straight West of Traverse. After driving through the rain most of the way there we arrived to a great sunny 12m session. The lake was beautiful and the waters were as clear as can be. The Cherry Festival was in town this week so we made our way down there for a night. I ran into the Broneah Brothers, it was great to catch up with them. We listened to a Beatles cover band and then checked out the rest of the nightlife in TVC. The rest of the week was just relaxing, swimming, jet skiing, wakeboarding and relaxing (again). What a great week!

From Hatteras to MI with Planes
Saturday, I dropped Mel off at the airport then went to go hang with DL in Virginia Beach. That place was packed with tourists. We biked out to the beach to check the surf and couldn’t see the waves because of the entire beach was covered in umbrellas. After a great taco dinner, we headed to the bars. I was up early to catch a flight home.
We meet up with my family and cousins out at the lake for some bbq and boating. After a very relaxing day we cruised back to the house for the rest of the evening.
Monday I got the have breakfast with the grandparents then drove up to Traverse City!

Summer in the Outer Banks of Cape Hatteras, NC
The last week has been a busy one. There have been a ton of sessions and a lot of work. The wind has been pretty good. Dre and I have been doing some shooting. There have been a couple great sunsets. REAL had the #11 racecar at the shop. Nascar is not really my thing but that car was pretty sweet (and loud!).
