Today was National Go Skateboard Day. So believe it or not we went skateboarding! Did you? After a good day at work the crew meet up at 7 at the Laughing Gull Bowl for a session. It is always a great time getting everyone together to ride and hang out. We skated well into the night.

Weekend of Sessions: Golf, Kite, Skate…
It was a great weekend in Cape Hatteras, NC. After a month of nonstop shooting and work, I finally got to lay low for a change. Too bad I never got around to the laying low part. Saturday, I got to clean the tuck and my life for that matter. I skated for a little then Mel and I headed north to Nags Head.
We hit the driving range (with inappropriate attire I might add, sorry ma). It was a great session though, as we scored some much-needed practice on the range. The driver and the 5 iron finally treated me well. We finished off the day with an amazing dinner with Lulu and Otto.
Sunday was a day of sessions. I started off with a mellow skateboarding session with Dom. Then I took Mel out kiteboarding. She wanted moral support when riding in bindings for the first time. So, I followed her for about an hour with a jetski (thanks Jason) as she was ripping upwind and making great transitions. It was very cool to see.
We made it home for lunch and were about to go back out to kite when a dark storm front moved over the Pamlico Sound. We decided to put the kiting on hold and go skate again. We then had a great dinner then watched an all time sunset light up the sky and we started our 3rd skateboard session of the day. We wrapped up the skate session around 11:30 when we realized it was blowing 20 knots from the SW. It was game time. Jason Slezak, Chris Stuckey and I headed over to REAL to grab a quick Slick night session before heading to bed. WHAT A WEEKEND!!!

More Wakeboarding & Portraits
It was déjà vu tonight. I did a quick repeat of yesterday, except Tommy, Steve, Jeremy, and I hit up the Laughing Gull Bowl for a quick skate session. I then headed back over to REAL. Chad and crew was out ripping the slider as i arrived. Dre, Evans, Stuckey and Adam were working on designs for a new slider. I set up for a quick (ok. maybe not actually quick) portrait shoot with Brandon Scheid and Adam Anton. -
Sunset Wakeboarding and Dre Photoshoot
Tonight after work I hung out at REAL with Andre Phillip, and Adam Anton watching some of the crew wakeboarding on the JWCF Slider. Florida Cable Park ripper Chad Worrall was destroying it with style on the slider and the dock. Then tried a couple portrait shots with Dre and Lulu even snuck in for a couple. I was very excited on how well they turned out!

Best Photos of the 2009 Triple-S Invitational
I wanted to do a quick wrap up on the 2009 Triple-S Invitational with my top ten favorite photos from last year’s event. It is hard to imagine that we just took down the 2010 Triple-S Banners. This year is flying by. We scored a ton of print and online coverage from the event, which was amazing, but it was brought to my attention that many of you had not seen some of the better images. From the style to the presses these images made it into my favorites list, so here you go and hope you enjoy! -
Laughing Gull Bowl Build
Laughing Gull Bowl Build from bryan elkus on Vimeo. The Building of the Laughing Gull Bowl in Cape Hatteras, NC is nearing completion. There is now yet another great skate park / backyard bowl in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Starting the Project master skater and builder Ed D’Ottavio laid down the groundwork with the mini in Jason Slezak’s yard. He nearly completed the west bowl and then had to take off. That was when NC skate legend Marc Corbett arrived on the scene to wrap up the project.
THANK U’s:

Foggy Wall Ride Session with Chad Warroll
With a great glassy, sunny evening upon us, we planned to take out the Liquid Force wall ride to get a couple sunset shots on it. Just as we were about to untie the ropes from the dock a thick fog rolled in. This happens on the Outer Banks of North Carolina every now and again when there is upwelling in the Atlantic Ocean. The temperature drops significantly and the warm air over the ocean causes this effect. We decided to shoot anyways, and walked away with a couple cool mood shots.
