  • To Florida & Back Again

    On the way to FLL

I headed down to Florida for the weekend to attend my cousin’s wedding. We had a great time while we were there just hanging out with the parents in hot sunny Florida. Here are a couple pictures from the weekend:

  • ERGO Window Graphic

During the week that the ERGO Crew was down, I did a bunch of shooting with them. Matt Keenan and I hooked up to score this window graphic. This graphic is on the front doors of the REAL Watersports Flagship Store in Waves, NC.

  • Cloudy Lunch Surf

We had a fun day of surf yesterday. Jason, Chris, Steve and Jermy headed out for a lunch surf. The waves were shoulder and didn’t pack much of a punch, but we had a great time. Below Steve scores a nice one…

I finally put together some of my favorite images from the REAL PERU Trip. The 7” square book boasts 40 pages of amazing views from Northern Peru. The Peru 2009 book is available in Hardcover. You can also preview some of the pages.

  • Classic Cape Hatteras Susnet

If a perfect sound glass off wasn’t enough for the day, we lucked out with an all time sunset. Zack and Beth headed out for a paddle and i caught up with them as they headed out.

  • Pamlico Sound Glass Off

I woke up this morning to a glass off of the Pamlico Sound. I headed out to snap some early morning shots. Beautiful yes, but where did the waves go..?

  • Lunch Time Surf Session

    BRYANELKUS_92239

I went out for a lunch time surf today with some of the REAL Crew.  It was very small and clean.  It was a blast nonetheless.  Perfect for mini barrel shots!

  • Cape Hatteras Barrel Fest

    BRYANELKUS_91329
Yesterday saw a near perfect alignment of the stars. We had great wind, great wind direction, good waves, and blue skies. We gathered up the REAL Team and headed down south. Jason Slezak, Sam Bell, Brandon Scheid, Ryan Evans meet up with Jay Crawford and some of the other local kiters and headed out for a great side-off session. The waves were not nearly as amazing as they were the night before but they would do.

Slezy was pushing it by pulling into more barrels than I’d ever seen kited in Cape Hatteras. Everyone else was holding their own in the angry looking ocean. The current was raging while the barrels were dredging in the waist high ocean bottom.

The crew rode for a few hours while we shot and took video. We grabbed a quick lunch at low tide hoping the waves would fill back in. When we arrived back at the riding spot it was pretty disorganized and not enough water to make the barrels happen so we called it a day and headed home.

We made it back just in time to get a bit of work done and for a great but simple sunset, which made for a great end to the day.

  • Weekend Session Update : Pumping Swell

    BRYANELKUS_91199

It was a great weekend to be by the ocean. The Waves were pumping. Saturday saw head to double overhead monsters rolling in with light off shore winds. There was some amazing surfing going down at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. It was extremely dark and gray all day so I decided to work on my speed blur and came away with a couple cool ones.

Sunday was head + high waves with slightly slide off winds at 25 knots, which proved to be a perfect direction for kiting the ocean. Slezy and I did a downwinder in Avon to Buxton. Along the way we meet up with John Brya and the SBC Kiteboard Crew who are down for the next two weeks testing the 2010 gear.
