  • Nags Head Golf Shoot

    BRYANELKUS_81317

I spent most of the workday editing and tagging photos from the pervious day’s shoot. After work I cruised up north with Mel to get my truck window fixed (from a rock). We got all the way up to Nags Head before it started raining. They couldn’t fix the glass with there being moisture in the cracks.

So we headed over the Nags Head Links to try and shoot a couple shots I’ve been meaning to get. They allowed me to take photos so we got to work during the interment drizzles. Mel got some good practice on her swing while I did a lot of shooting. After shooting for a while we put away all the gear and hit some balls before heading back.

  • REAL Fall Shoot

    BRYANELKUS_80216
Yesterday I headed down south to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton with the REAL crew. We tried to shoot kitesurfing. The clouds however didn’t want to cooperate with us.

I still managed to get a couple shots. The guys rode for a few hours while I swam and took some shots. After a quick bit to eat we headed back to the lighthouse for round 2.

I wound up trying to go out. I rigged up and took two tacks to get upwind and dropped in on my first wave and before I knew it, I was swimming back to the beach. I backed up my get and again grabbed the camera for a little while longer.

Then some fo the crew broke off and headed to Kite Point to grab a few night shots in the KP Pool. It was a very fun session. Thanks to Chris and Lulu for holding flashes.

  • NE Front and Kite Session

    BRYANELKUS_80184

Yesterday was back to the grind. We did, however, have a massive front roll through the island. I got out to take a couple quick photos of the impending doom. It rained hard for about an hour before the storm passed.

After work I meet up with a bunch of the crew for a S-Turns to my house downwinder. It was fun. I was a little under on my 8m Havoc and a surfboard. There was not much in the way of waves yet. The forecast is NE for the next few days so the waves should ramp up soon!

  • Sunday Surf & Wright Brothers

    BRYANELKUS_79745

Sunday morning I headed out to surf with zack. The waves were perfect little right barrels. I surf for a few hours. Then some friends meet up with me out there and I switched out my board for my camera. By that time the tide switched and the waves dropped in size considerably.

    BRYANELKUS_79788

Mel and I then headed north for a birthday party. We stopped at the Wright Brother’s National Museum. I wanted to take a couple shots, as I had never been there. The sky was pretty ominous so I thought I would be a good photo opportunity.

  • Swell from TS Danny in Cape Hatteras

    BRYANELKUS_79079

Yesterday was another amazing day of surfing in the Outer Banks of Cape Hatteras, NC. Today was the first day seeing swell from Tropical Storm Danny. I headed out again today with some of the REAL Coaches to shadow a surf lesson. When we showed up to the beach it couldn’t have been a more perfect longboard/fish wave. I paddle out quickly while they did all the dry land talks and caught some very fun waves. I then met up with them and took a few shots. The students did great scoring their first waves on perfect waist+ high waves.

After going back to work I then took a lunch break a few hours later. Jason and I showed up to the beach to find the waves now well overhead. With the current pumping we headed out and scored some very fun long waves.

    BRYANELKUS_79190

We again headed out after work. It really wasn’t that fun. The current was seriously hauling. I got 2 fun waves and took a ton on the head. It was a great day of surfing and it will be interesting to see what happens this weekend with the TS.

Today, I shot a surf lesson. It was cool to see people getting their first rides! It was also very nice to get out of the office and into the water on a hot day. Neil was also out there on his standup. There were a couple fun waves coming through. It was a perfect day for a longboard session.

  • Post Bill Dawn Patrol Session

    BRYANELKUS_78457

Post Hurricane Bill the crowds went away but some of the waves stuck around. Zack and I were in the water at sunrise. It was a welcoming feeling to see a very empty line up

    BRYANELKUS_78643

There were some very fun waist-shoulder high waves coming through. Tommie and Jason headed out a little later. I swapped out my board for a camera and took a few shots before a pretty gnarly current formed. It was very fun while it lasted!

  • Kiteboarding Paintings

Sharon Kearns a local North Carolina artist contacted me a while back about painting some of my kiteboarding photographs. I was a little hesitant at first, but today I received a picture of the two images that she painted. I thought they turned out amazing! I was so excited that I had to share so please check out here other work, HERE.
