  • head high surf and dock slider session

    BRYANELKUS_32527

After fun time at Joe Joe’s going away party it proved a little difficult to get going this morning. I took Major on a walk in the morning to check the surf. It was firing! It was head high and bigger. I surfed at Mac Oca for about 2 hours on my short board, It was a fantastic session. I had a half dozen really fun waves. I stayed out there until I couldn’t feel my feet anymore.

I came in for lunch and a quick nap. Then it was off the REAL to go for a kite session as the SW wind picked up towards the end of my surf. I pumped up my new 14m 2009 Havoc and got into my new 145 WLF and headed out for a quick session in the Slick. It was great to get out and ride a little wake style in sub 20 knot winds. Once the wind really picked up it was difficult to land really hard on the new board. Its so flat it just likes to bounce when I land.

Jason, Brandon, Nick and Scotty headed out for a sunset dock slider session. I grabbed a couple shots and then called it a day.

We had a very busy day at work today. Jason Sam and I headed down to the Lighthouse towards the end of the day hoping to sneak in a session. It was blowing 30 knots from the North and some very large waves rolling in. There was so much water moving the guys up 8m kites in 30-35 knot winds with surfboards and still could not make it up wind. They packed it up and we headed over to the skate bowl.

Jason and Steve’s friend Ed was back in town. He helped Steve put Mojo’s together last year, and it turns out he is a terrific skater. Ed and Jason skated the bowl with a few of the local kids, while I took a couple photos.

  • Resin8 Techout @REAL

    BRYANELKUS_32132

Tonight the local Resin8 Rep, Eric, came up to talk to us at the REAL Flagshipstore about the Resin8 surfboard line. The boards look fantastic and I’m excited to season to get going to try out some of their new shapes. The construction looks extremely solid. It sounds like they will be trying out a couple kite specific boards to keep up with the increased demands of kiting on a board. There is a new fish that may be calling my name.

  • Bye Bye SS Diesel

    BRYANELKUS_32089

Today, I turned in my first kite the ’05 Slingshot 13m diesel. It has found a new home as part of an art project. The kite has done me well for many years, but as of the last few it has jut been sitting wasting away. So I just had to say good bye and find it a new home.

Ryan’s Profile showed up on Best Kiteboarding website today. We did a quick shoot for this last week. So check it out HERE.

  • REAL Riding Hats

    BRYANELKUS_32078

Some of the new shipment of REAL hats showed up today. I was pretty excited on how well the designs and the hats came out. Most of these hats are foam so that you can kite or surf with them and they will float when you fall. Tommie and Jason helped me out on the design. They should be on sale soon!

  • 2009 Kites and Boards

    BRYANELKUS_31939

It was a pretty relaxing Sunday. I eventually headed out of the house and headed down south to Kite Point. Just before I got on the road Jason called me up to shoot a couple photos of his board that he needed to get done. The photo is meant to show the shape of the bottom of the board. We played with the shadows, light and sun in a couple combinations before deciding on this setup.

Down at Kite Point I meet up with Sam Medysky and his crew who just got into town. I hung out down there for a little as the North wind slowly died out. I headed back north stopping at Food Lion for a food run. You know its almost season when the Food Monster was packed. I then hung out at REAL for the evening, as I had to tag my other two kites.

  • Saturday Surf Session

    BRYANELKUS_31884

Saturday was pretty relax. After cooking a nice breakfast with the roomies we headed out to Ramp 23 for a surf. Julien and Ken were already out riding. I grabbed my short board for the waist to chest high rights. Scotty and I rode for a couple hours. I then came home and passed out hard for an hour or so. I headed over to Ottos for a tech out session for Mojo’s new website.
