  • First Slick Slider Session of 2009

It was a great SW day on Friday we worked most of the day and then I took my lunch in the afternoon and got in a quick slider session on the JWCF Slider in the Slick with some of the boys. It was great to get on the sliders again. I was super powered a 14m Havoc and my SS Recoil. I did decide I like hitting sliders with a bigger kite as it seemed that all of last year’s slider sessions were on 8m kites.

I went back to work for a bit after the session and then the Media crew headed out for an SDA to REAL downwinder. We lost Chris near the beginning and then carls kite failed about half way through. I made it to the slick for sunset for a killer solo session in the slick. I also got to ride one of Julian’s 2010 creations which is going to be a killer kite. I also tried out slezy’s 138 influence. That was the first time riding the production model. It’s a great board but I like a little larger board with boots for my size.

After that we heade back to my house for a little party for Scotty’s birthday and called it a night.

  • Sunset at REAL

It was a good day at work and with a lack of wind and waves we hung out and took a couple pictures in the backyard of REAL. I also took a couple photos of Ryan Evans for his page on Best Kiteboarding.

  • REAL TV Commercial #2

I again had a very fun fire drill yesterday. I needed to create a quick commercial for the up coming REAL Swap Meet, April 17-18. I just grabbed a couple clips from last years event and made a quick little edit for the second REAL TV Commercial.

  • Night Kiteskate Session

    BRYANELKUS_31597

After a long day at work I headed out for a quick session. It was blowing a cold West all day and switched SW just before I headed out. I rode up to the Slick powered out of my mind. I threw a couple jumps and headed in. I then meet up with Matt Lane, Brandon Scheid, Brian Smith and a few others to head up to the inlet to kiteskate. The guys rode 2 and 3m trainer kites in 25-30 knots. It seemed like a pretty good time, but ill stick to the water for now.

  • Windy SW Kite Session

    BRYANELKUS_31427

It was well WINDY yesterday. It was about 23 knots in the morning then quickly ramping up to 35-40. Brian Smith, Jason Slezak and Brandon Scheid headed out at my lunch to go for a boost session on 5m kites. I took a couple pictures of the boys boosting.

I headed back down to Frisco to hang out with the MI crew after work. I got in a really fun Kitesurf session just south of the Pier. It was all going well until I dropped my kite in the surf and had to ditch my board. I dragged back into the beach put down my kite and ran up the beach looking for my board. It some how made it through/under the Pier unscathed!

After watching a rather disappointing game I headed down to the Pier to take a couple photos, and then got up for the sunrise.

  • Watermen’s Wall Decor

    BRYANELKUS_31314

Sunday afternoon I headed down to Frisco to hangout with some of the MI Crew who made their way into town the last few days. There was a lack of both wind and waves so we just hung out for a bit. Then I headed back up north and took a couple shots of my photos that are now hanging up in Watermen’s Retreat. I was only able to get about half of the rooms done tonight. More to follow.

  • Sunday: Day of Sessions

    BRYANELKUS_31269

Sunday was a day of sessions! We woke up and ate a pretty relaxing breakfast, which is good because the next two hours were taken up deciding whether we should go kite or go surf. The NW wind was forecasted to die out but the waves didn’t look all that great. After checking numerous breaks, we settled on Ramp 23. It was a blast, although it didn’t look all that great from the beach. I rode my JS 6’8 in the waist to chest high waves. We surfed that until my arms couldn’t take it any more.

We headed back to the house for a quick bit and an hour nap. When I woke up the wind shifted SW and was holding strong at 19knots. We gathered the crew and did a fun downwinder from SDA to REAL. We made it back just in time to catch MSU play in the final 4 game and then called it a night.

  • Sunset Photo Shoot

    BRYANELKUS_31252

Today was busy, as everyone at work was getting ready for the REAL/ Watermen’s Retreat Open House. It was a good turnout with Mojo Collins playing again on the back deck. It was really windy all day. I was able to grab a quick lunchtime boost session in my shorty!

As the sunset of a great day was about to go down, I grabbed my camera for the first time in a week and took a couple shots. Brandon Scheid and Matt Nuzzo were still out on the water riding in the back yard of REAL.

  • Watermen’s Print Material

    BRYANELKUS_31221

Some print material showed up today. The Watermen’s Retreat rack card and Donna’s new business card showed up. The rack card was designed by JD Media. They used my photo of the REAL backyard/boat basin on the front of the rack card for some extra pop.

    BRYANELKUS_31222

Donna’s card came out really well. The only issue I really had with it is the finish seems to be a bit too glossy with the black and reviles fingerprints quite easily. But the layout and printing turn out top notch.
