Overall it seems that Hurricane Bertha was hyped up a bit too much. Yesterday morning proved to deliver the best swell we have yet to see. Most of the crew headed to Ramp 23 to paddle through the ragging currents to the head + high waves rolling in. These were some of the heaviest waves i have yet to surf. I rode a 6’4 Resin 8. It was a bit too small but i was able to get a few very fun and adrenaline pumping waves. Ken, Slezy, Dre and DL scored some of the waves of the day. I then headed over to Mirlot to check out the mob scene. The line up was packed and there were some rippers out. Here are a couple shots from the day…

Barrel Session I & II Wrap up
Andre Philip, Jason Slezak and Brandon Scheid defiantly walked away from the Barrel Session I and Barrel Session II with some “keepers”. Each of them scored at least one terrific shot that were all very excited about. Dre and Slezy each grabbed a pretty cool sequence shot. We have come up with more plans to further the progression of the Barrel Sessions. However, it looks as though we will have to wait until the weather goes back to normal from the hurricane Bertha. Below are a couple sample shots from the two sessions.

The 4th Slider Jam
After working all day, we took out the REAL Slider Park for an evening session. REAL had a great party going, the shop was packed, demos going on and even complete with a trailer full of refrigerated Kegs for everyone’s enjoyment. The Slider Park was put directly in back of the property, which made for a great show. Everyone was out having a great time and getting some good hits in. Here are a couple shots of me on the JWCF Slider:

Slider Session
It was another terrific weekend of sessions. Saturday started off with a 3 hour surf session with Dave Lewis and Anne-Marie at Mirlo Beach. With very consistent waist to shoulder high sets coming in, it made for a great surf. After lunch we headed over to REAL and pulled out the slider. By then the wind had lulled to 17. After getting the slider out and kites rigged, the wind kept building back up to the middle 20s. I finally pumped up all my kites and took out the 8m. I was a bit underpowered, but enough to get upwind until the wind picked back up. Dre, Nick, Scott and myself sessioned the slider for quite a while. Nick was determined to ride away from a 50-50 on the wakeskate, and did. Scotty was looking good sporting bindings, and I learned and landed a bunch of new jib tricks. It was a great day.

The Wind is Back
We have had 4 solid days of cranking SW winds. It has been 12m weather in the morning perfect to get in a slider session. Then in the afternoon we are fully powered on 8m kites. It looks like we will get a few more days of SW and then get a bit of a break. Here are a couple shot from our 6am slider session the other day.

Mirlo Surf Session
Here are a couple shots from an evening surf session at Mirlo Beach. Zack Johnson was out on the SUP destroying the less than impressive waves. Matt Lane in there with a bottom turn.
After the evening session we hit the sunset session for a little flat water action. below is again Zack Johnson and Scot Laney
