  • Weather and Wildlife

We have had a few large fronts move through the Outer Banks this week. I also headed down to the Southside of the island to kiteboard. I stopped at the Frisco Pier to see what was left of it. There were hundreds if not thousands of birds migrating down the coastline.

  • Sunday Night Skate

The Sunday skate at the Laughing Gull Bowl continued this week.  It was a full house with most of the coaches back in town and the weather becoming warmer all were excited to skate.  Everyone had a great session and some pretty technical tricks were being made.  It was a great way to start the week!

Brad even shot a video of one of my runs…

  • Mike & Amy’s Engagement

We meet up with Mike and Amy in Manteo, NC for a quick engagement shoot.  We had a great time exploring the area and finding some fun places to shoot.

  • Sunday Skate at LGB Continues

After a great session kitesurfing at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse with Lulu, Sammy, Rich and Darren, I headed back North to Rodanthe. Jessie and crew showed up again for the sunday skate session. It was a great session with the bowl nearing completion, the guys were learning new lines and having a great time!

  • Kitesurfing Rodanthe

It was again windy today. I went for two ocean-side Kiteboarding sessions today. The first one at lunch, it was blowing 23 as we packed all the gear. By the time we made it to S-Turns it dropped 10 knots! It was a pretty rough ride as it was difficult to be in the right place when you were that under powered.

The evening session was fun! We went to Lulu’s house where Jason, Brandon, Sammy, Lulu and Tommie all rode for a while, until the current was too strong and then went down the coast a bit to my house and called it a day. Both sessions I rode the 2011 Liquid Force 8m Havoc and my Surftech 6’1 board.

    Thanks for the photos Mel!

  • Kiteboarding Magazine May 2011

The new issue of Kiteboarding Magazine arrived at the shop earlier this week. Here are some of the shots that made it in.

  • Scheid in The Kiteboarder

his photograph of Kiteboarder Brandon Scheid appeared in The Kiteboarder Magazine. Brandon is nose pressing the Liquid Force Wall Ride during the 2011 LF product shoot. This is a very difficult technical trick, which requires the rider to jump off the water onto the wall and instead of displacing their weight equally, they have to lean forward and place the majority of the weight on the front foot.

  • Spring is (almost) Here

Jason Slezak, Laura Lulu Vroman, Sam Bell and Matt Nuzzo headed out for a kiteboarding session.  It was warm SW winds so no booties, gloves or hoods needed!  We took out the rooftop rail for a couple hits.  After the guys/gal were done ridding, I took Jason’s Kite for a few minutes as he pulled in the slider.

  • Sunday Skate at LGB

It was the second Sunday skate in a row.  A couple of the Nags Head guys came down for a great evening session at the LGB Skate Bowl.  The guys were killing it like usual with some new lines and big airs.  We skated well into the dark after a great sunset.  Check out some of the action:
