  • Morning Surf Session

    BRYANELKUS_113993

Following up with yesterday’s great surf, I was up at sunrise to get the leftover waves. I met up with Zack, Lulu, Jeremy and Joel for a dawn patrol session. The waves were glassy and shoulder high, which made for a terrific morning surf.

  • Sunday Surf and Sunset

    BRYANELKUS_113755

It was another stellar weekend in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The surf was amazing today. After a morning walk on the beach, I met up with Tommie, Greg K. (who was in town), Joel and Zack for really fun surf. We followed up the surf with a short skate session, then a sunset shoot and finished off with a great dinner with friends (thanks lu!).

  • South Side Surf Session in Hatteras

    BRYANELKUS_113599

The wind was cranking today but it was still a bit cold to kite, so I meet up with Tommie and Trip on the South Side of the Island for a surf session. There were some fun waves that came through. I rode my Takyama longboard and caught a couple fun waves. On my way home, I stopped at the lighthouse and took some pictures along the way.

  • The REAL Retail Floor Series

    BRYANELKUS_113432

I finished a series of photos for REAL Watersports today. In line with the rugged, grungy and industrial look, these photos bring the store floor to life by adding depth and feel to the images.

  • Another Day in Cape Hatteras

    BRANELKUS_98619

All eyes are currently fixed on the North Shore of Hawaii, as they are expecting one of the largest swells in years, with 25-50 foot waves. It was a rather relaxed day in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, however, we should have waves coming later this week.

    BRANELKUS_98587

But today the waves were small and the wind light so there wasn’t much to do, so I decided to head out and take some pictures during lunch. It proved to be a fun solo shoot.

I took out two flashes with me and headed to an area with a lot of tall reeds. The sky was gray and overcast with sunrays shining through. It made for some great scenic shots of the wetlands.

  • Cape Hatteras Sunrise

    BRYANELKUS_98429

I was woken this morning with a frantic phone call that the sunrise was all time.  I rushed down to the beach, and sure enough it looked like there was a fireball rising from the horizon.

I then proceeded to drive down to the pier and locked my keys in the car as i was in such a rush. I forgot about the truck for a moment and went around snapping a few more pictures. Chris Stuckey came to my rescue with some coat hangers and we made our way back into the truck.

  • NC HWY 12 Closed Part 2

We again headed down to S-Turns at High Tide to see what the damage was like. The road was completely covered in sand and water. The water was rushing over the dunes and flooding the street.

We again headed to the Serendipity, the house from the movie, “Nights in Rodanthe“. I took a few more shots there before we headed up to where the sand dunes use to be.

The sunset illuminated the stormy sky into an unbelievable scene. The bull dozers were in action as we headed out so hopefully the road will be open tomorrow and the waves will be rideable…

  • NE’ster hits Cape Hatteras, NC

    BRYANELKUS_93753

Checking the radar all day I spotted a clearing in the torrential down pouring rain and grabbed Chris, Stuckey and Claire and headed to S-Turns (the North end of town). It wasn’t closed off yet but the water was washing over the road on the bigger sets and it’s not high tide until 3pm.

We took some pictures of the Serendipity, the Nights in Rodanthe House (yeah the one from the movie), for a bit. The water was crashing up against the front fo the house and then running up the dune in front of the house. Then headed over to where the water was eroding the dunes. All that was stopping the water from washing away the road are some very large sand bags. It was quite the sight to see this afternoon! It started to pour again so we packed it up and headed out…

  • Jason Slezak / Elkus Cover

Screen shot 2009-11-05 at 9.07.37 AM

It has been a long time coming but Jason Slezak and I finally lined up a cover shot for kiteboarding.de. This was one of the shoots we did while Andre Phillip was in town this summer. Slezy, Dre and I cranked out two fun shoots with the barrel and it seemed to be worthwhile!

    UPDADE:

Brian Smith and I also scored a full page, while Dylan and I had a full page spread aswell.
