  • Pre Thanksgiving Surf Session

    BRYANELKUS_97990

The day I headed back to Michigan for Thanksgiving, proved to be a great day of surf in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  It was so good we found out they held the Battle of the Banks only a mile from where we went for our session.

Jason Slezak, Sam Bell and Julien Fillion headed out for a session with myself and Chris Stephany shooting. It was great for about a half hour before the skies covered up and it became grayer than gray.

The waves were big and powerful.  I got thrown over the falls 4-5 times that day, but got a couple cool shots!

  • Surfing Bombs and a Great Sunset

    BRYANELKUS_95839

Now that things seem to be calming down a bit on the Island. Zack, Joel and I decided to paddle out. It looked doable from the beach. We made it out after drifting a fare distance down current.

Joel and I came up pretty empty handed and zack scored a couple for the team. To end up a couple days of destructions here is a great classic Cape Hatteras sunset (with power lines).

  • Pumping Weekend Waves

    BRYANELKUS_93081

As the Island starts to close down for the season by celebrating the end of season at Lisa’s Pizza, the waves continue to pump. This weekend we saw some fantastic surf. Saturday was smaller and playful. It looks like this weekend could be interesting as well… Check out some of the pics:

  • Cloudy Lunch Surf

    BRYANELKUS_92590

We had a fun day of surf yesterday. Jason, Chris, Steve and Jermy headed out for a lunch surf. The waves were shoulder and didn’t pack much of a punch, but we had a great time. Below Steve scores a nice one…

  • Lunch Time Surf Session

    BRYANELKUS_92239

I went out for a lunch time surf today with some of the REAL Crew.  It was very small and clean.  It was a blast nonetheless.  Perfect for mini barrel shots!

  • Weekend Session Update : Pumping Swell

    BRYANELKUS_91199

It was a great weekend to be by the ocean. The Waves were pumping. Saturday saw head to double overhead monsters rolling in with light off shore winds. There was some amazing surfing going down at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. It was extremely dark and gray all day so I decided to work on my speed blur and came away with a couple cool ones.

Sunday was head + high waves with slightly slide off winds at 25 knots, which proved to be a perfect direction for kiting the ocean. Slezy and I did a downwinder in Avon to Buxton. Along the way we meet up with John Brya and the SBC Kiteboard Crew who are down for the next two weeks testing the 2010 gear.

  • ERGO ESA Party at REAL

    BRYANELKUS_88696

Yesterday was an incredibly busy day. I started off with a sunrise session with Zack. The waves were a little soft, but some fun ones still coming through. Then it was to work to get ready for the ERGO ESA Party.

At lunch, I headed back out to the ocean to shoot some of the ERGO crew who were out scoring their last session of the trip. The waves were very small, but it was a great day with clear glassy waves.

The Egro Party was a huge success. There were TONS of people at REAL for the party. The band, My Friend Ben, rocked the party all night. Steve and the Mojo Sunset Café grilled up dinner for everyone.

The ERGO guys did a massive product toss which made everyone stoked. Over all it was a great day and night! REAL, ERGO, JWCF and Outer Beaches know how to throw a party!

  • Night Surf Shoot, The Revenge

    BRYANELKUS_88219

I meet up with Matt and the crew for a lunch session. It was very small but clean and clear. I headed out again with the Ergo Crew out for a sunset surf session.

It was a pretty killer sunset. I caught a couple waves then headed in to grab my camera. Colin Devine again helped me out with the flash. There were some fun waves coming through and the guys were ripping. We played around with all kinds of setups with the flash and camera. I think we got a couple cool ones, and better yet we made it in with all the gear intact!

  • Night Surf Shoot Gone Bad

    BRYANELKUS_87344

Last night I headed out with some of the Ergo crew to try out a little night surf action. It was all-good till we got to the beach and found some very heavy waves at incredibly short intervals crashing in waist high water. We headed out and things were going well, until I looked over at the strobe, and it was going off like a madman. First thought, unfortunately turned out to be correct, WATER! Sh*t. We made it back to the beach and took all the batteries out and then started to dry everything out and tried to minimize the loss. Kind of a bummer of a session but here are a couple from the session:
