I get to the airport in the morning, 6:30 in the morning, extremely excited for my 3 flights just to get to New York. I make it through security and wait for my flight. I wind up talking to a flight agent about video and photography as he saw my tripod. Then we got talking surfing and surfing trips, as his son was a ranked surfer on the east coast. He was a really nice guy.

Later they get to call my flight to Philly. I go up to the kiosk and talk to another agent, to see if there was room on the direct flight that took off a little later. He hooked it up and I scored my self a nonstop to NYC. Whether it was because of Christmas or talking surfing with his buddy, I got lucky. I got to talking with the two of them after the other flight had left and they asked to check out my Cape Hatteras Photo book. 15 minutes later there were 4 agents checking it out, and they seemed stoked on the book. It was really cool to see them excited about the photos.

I made it into NYC 4 hours a head of time… go figure that would have happened traveling on Christmas. I cabbed it to my sister’s place where I meet up with the family. We spent the rest of the day wondering the streets. I must say it’s a bit of a culture shock going from Hatteras to NYC.
