  • Knee-high kickers in Florida

The wind cranked in Deerfield Beach, FL. Some of the family took a couple hours to go with me to the beach. Consistent sets small waves come through creating a great playground to explore. It was great being back in salt water. I was perfectly powered on the 12m Envy.

PS. Thanks for the photos dad!

Thanks to Liquid Force, Patagonia, Dakine & Camrig

  • How to Find Alligators in Florida

We went in search for Alligators in Florida. Driving only 20 minutes we came to the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, and took an airboat tour. Unfortunately, the sun wasn’t out, so we didn’t see many large Alligators on the tour. We did get to see a nice variety of birds.

  • Utah and the MaiTai

I had a terrific time in Utah and the MaiTai Snowkiting event. It was great to see old friends, meet new ones, talk tech and get out in the backcountry again. Here are a few iPhone photos from the trip. The real ones to follow soon…

  • Spring Kiteboarding in Muskegon

Edgar, Amer, Eric and I missioned across the state to try and catch a kiteboarding session in Muskegon Michigan. With gale-force winds in the forecast, we were all more than excited to hit the water. We packed up and headed out early and arrived to a few kites up on the clear blue water and a heavy fog in the distance. The wind was cranking for a 2 hour session, but unfortunately the waves never built. Just as we got warmed up the wind died out.

It was a great time to give my buddy Casey a go with a full inflatable on the beach as we waited for the wind to pick back up. It was not until a few hours before sunset when the wind slowly built back up. Casey came out to shoot a few photos and a little video. The best was the last session of the day were a couple of us rode inside the jetty in very flat water that was perfect for some wake tricks. Thanks for the clips and photos Casey and it was great to see the crew out there ripping!

  • East Tawas Michigan Weekend

I made the trip up to East Tawas Michigan for a weekend of kiteboarding and camping. Tawas was where I first learned to kiteboard, so I really enjoy riding there. The wind didn’t show the way we expected, but we got in a few hours of light wind kiting. I rode my 12m Liquid Force Envy on long lines and the Contact board and boots and was some how keeping up with the guys on big kites, cool! The sand at the point moved a lot making a new slick which will be insane for flat water riding!

The bird watchers were out in full force so I did some birdwatchers watching. With great sunsets, blue skies and perfectly clear water, it was a spectacular weekend weather-wise. The entire crew camped out in the woods and adventured around Tawas and the surrounding area. It was great to meet a lot more of the Michigan kite crew who started riding after I left michigan. All in all it was a terrific weekend and I cannot wait to ride up there again.

  • Kiteboarding Ohio’s Lake Erie

We stopped in Ohio on the way back from the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The wind was falling quick but we found a great spot to go for a quick session. By the time we got rigged and changed the wind was barely enough to ride. I gave it a few tries, down winding on each one. I can’t wait to ride here again, there are some great kickers and a terrific background for shooting.

  • Wedding in Gloucester, VA

Gloucester VA held a very special wedding this weekend. Our friends Ashley and Johnny held a beautiful event held at Warner Hall. We started the weekend off with a round of golf at Golden Horseshoe on a perfect spring day with blue skies and a light breeze. The rest of the weekend was spectacular hanging with old friends and making new ones and celebrating the marriage of 2 very amazing people!

  • MaiTai Utah

We had an amazing trip to Utah. Bill Tai () and Susi Mai () hosted their annual snowkiting MaiTai Trip. The event consists of a bunch of VCs, Entrepreneurs and Kite addicts who hang out, kite and talk tech.

The conditions were amazing. Although the first day brought light wind and whiteout conditions, the rest of the trip was mostly blue skies and solid 12m conditions. I had such a great time riding and meeting some very interesting people! Remi and I scored some killer shots that you are sure to see in the coming months!

Here are a couple iPhone photos from the trip:

  • Beautiful Park City

Utah has been amazing! It’s great being back in this beautiful state. The conditions on the mountain have been great with blue skies and good snow. We also got to watch my cousin Henry in his ski race. The light was pretty poor but he did great at the race.
