  • PERU 2010 Day 14

    Today was the day!!! We scored it! We started by headed to a spot near Lobitos. The guys pumped up and headed out. The waves were way overhead and barreling. Everyone was just killing it. After scoring a terrific session we packed up the trucks and headed north a little bit to hit up another kite spot.

    It was terrific there too, with some massive waves and good wind. We spend another couple hours there shooting. On the way home we stopped at Panic to watch the surfers do their thing. It was the most heavy surf session I’ve ever seen.

    The waves were at least double overhead barreling left. If that wasn’t enough there was a massive boulder in the middle of the wave about half way through the ride at low tide. There was one set that came in where everyone broke boards and the last guy on the wave was too low on the wave near the boulder and had to jump over the rock. It was ridiculous, pretty amazing no one died yesterday…

  • PERU 2010 Day 13

    Lay day/work day. Cloudy and no wind so I got a ton of photo stuff done.
    At the end of the day the crew headed out to the point for ice cream. The waves looked too fun to pass up even though it was as gray as could be. I had some of the most fun waves in a very long time. They were over head but had a very mellow take off.

    Today was kind of all over the place. We started the day with a surf in the AM as the clouds were very thick. After breakfast we packed up the car and headed to lobitos to kite. The waves were good but the wind was all over the place. The session didn’t last too long with everyone’s kites falling out of the sky.

  • REAL Peru 2010 Day 11

    Day 11 in Peru was the day I was waiting for. The swell bumped up a little and the wind was on. We had a quick morning surf in town in the small waves then headed about a half hour away to go to a kite. We were on 10ms and the waves were chest to head high. Everyone was having a great time and scoring some great waves. I made it out for a great session too, which totally made my day! And even better Juilen and Gary took some pictures while i was out! We rode until all were worn out and couldn’t kite any longer.

    With the REAL Clients gone, Jason Slezak, Julien Fillion, Josh Mulcoy, Gary Siskar and I continue our search for great waves and wind in Northern Peru. This video is from the first 10 days in PERU with the REAL Crew. We are currently waiting and watching for the swell to arrive as predicted. More to come soon!

    Was the chillest day yet. The clients headed to the airport today. There were some small waves and no wind all day in town. The crew just hung out and relaxed and got some work done. Later in the day we took a stroll through town and made our way back for a dinner and drinks.

    It was the clients last full day in Peru. They wanted to again do the same plan as we had been doing for the last few days. Lay low in the morning and session in the evening. We cruised out for a session the waves were the smallest of the trip thus far. After everyone had a good session the wind started to fad out. We hung out at the beach for a while talking and relaxing then drove back for an early evening and a bonfire.

    Today we again laid low this morning and hung around Gary’s place for the morning. Some did yoga, some read and others just relaxed. It was a great morning followed by a nice lunch and then after we packed the trucks and headed to a kitespot.

    We had the smallest waves of the trip thus far but it was still a really fun session for everyone. Jason busted out the wakeboard for a while and as the wind died I grabbed my surfboard and went for a cruise. We drove home following an amazing sunset to Mancora.

    We had a very lazy morning, which was a great change of pace. After hanging around all morning, the crew decided to pack up the trucks and head out to a kite spot for an afternoon session. The wind was lighter than usual as we were on 12 and 10m kites.

    The waves were very playful and great for the clients. Everyone got out and had a blast. I headed out for a quick session then Jason and josh headed out and were ripping in the waist high waves.
