The weekend was fun as usual. Tom Pabst headed up from SC to visit again. We scored a bunch of great sessions. We did 2 south side downwinders from hatteras ferry docks to robin lane. The first down winder was fun playing in the waves. The second a couple days later was a little different story. It was messy waist to chest+ waves. I rode my 9m fuel with 27m lines cause I broke my 07 bar again. Ill tell you there is a huge difference when riding 27m and 23m liens in the surf. You have to wait all day for your kite to turn on the longer lines. None the less it was a fun and challenging experience. That was my second time strapless in waves that big. They were much messier than I’ve ever ridden. The rest of the sessions were either at the Chimi House or at Kite Point. Samantha’s friend is in town for a couple days to visit/vacation. We watched the fireworks at the avon pier along with everyone else in the OBX it seemed. Here are a few pics from the last week. The first pictures of me were taken by Lane duPont (lanedupont.com) who is a local and fellow kiter.

weekend of sessions
This weekend was a blast
Friday: Tim and I worked up in waves to shoot a short video for a news item about Summer Kiting in Hatteras. We got some good shots. Then a huge NW front rolled in and that canceled the rest of the day. We got all the shots we needed but the riding shots which we were about to go shoot. Fri night there was a party at shaggy to celebrate him being ok from a massive kiteloop. The party was fun and a great turn out.
Saturday: I had to pick my car back up in Waves so I took a couple sessions at the slick. The SW wind started to die off a little so I packed it up and headed back to buxton. On the way back I stopped at Kite Point to see what was going on. The wind was still cranking. I got to try out John’s 14m Eclipse Thurster. The kite flew pretty nice but there was way to little bar pressure for me. After a session there I headed back home for lunch. After lunch I went with Shannon and Kevin (a customer) to Chimi house for a session. It was cranking I was lit on my 13m and it was a cool scene because there was another front rolling in so the sky was all dark and gloomy. We rode until the storm got uncomfortably close. I headed back to KP for a the last session of the day with Lane. After that I called it a day and Samm, Tommie, Genna and I hung out until Tom came up from SC.
Sunday: We started off the day with an awesome breakfast by Samm. Once we were all fueled up and ready to ride, Tom, Nick, Tommy and I did a downwinder from Avon Pier to the Light house where we meet up with Jen and Samm, We stayed there and rode the waves at the lighthouse until 5:00 which at that point none of us could move. We went over to Genna for a massive BBQ to wrap up the weekend.

Chimi SW session
Finally a kite session! After work yesterday I headed over to the Chimi house to meet up with Samm and Betz who were out riding for a while by then. It was a light SW until later in the evening. Samm was up and riding and stoked. I headed out on my 13m and was a bit underpowered so I came in to pump up my 17m when I saw the 14m T2 sitting out. I took it for a spin and nearly had my arms pulled off. I was completely lit on the kite. Someone didn’t have the yellow stopper ball in the right place so I couldn’t depower any further. Luckily I was on a LF Mission 144cm(a HUGE board). But as long as I could dig the edge in I was good but as soon as I started to plane I was off like a rocket. I made it back to shore in one piece and put up my 17m (I don’t know why). I got out and was lit again. I took a coupld laps and then put it down and decided to try out my 13m Diesel. I haven’t ridden that kite since being down here. The 27m lines were defiantly a huge change. The fact that the bar was completely out of tune didn’t help either. I also rode the JL Park 136 with the 06 Escalade bingins on them. They were for some reason much easier to get into and out of then i previously remembered. I really enjoyed ridingwith the binding but I think i want a larger board with the bindings. But it was a fun session and I was very happy to be out kiting again. Samm snagged a few shots:

Ankle high SUP session
Its been a long time since ive been water bound. After the Triple-S i got sick like everyone else here. I missed out on some epic sessions of good wind and great swell. Since then (the last week) there really hasnt been any wind. I headed out for a standup Paddleboarding session with Nick, Betz and Shannon at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The waves were small to say the least. But nonetheless we had a blast. It was a much needed great session. below are some photos from the session taken by me or Samantha.

Sunset Chimi
Yesterdays session stared off a little rough with a busted zip tie on my strut. I flew my 13m for a while but didn’t really have enough power to throw tricks. Some guy at the beach wound up having extra ties and the sessioning was back on. I meet up with Samm, Tom and his two friends at the Chimi house after work. Tom and I scored a great sunset session. As far as work goes were getting ready for the Triple-S. This is a competition that REAL Kiteboarding puts on every year. It should be a blast so were trying to get everything together.

Memorial Day Weekend
Friday: we had some great swell come in. I headed out with nick, dave, betz and a few others to the light house for a couple hour sunset surf session.
Saturday: Tom showed up from SC with a couple friends and we hung out at Kite point for a while. It was light and on shore so tom and his friends headed to the washout to fly the kite, while I headed out to the hotels for a standup. When I got there nick, Tommie, zack, his brother and britt were already out sessioning with the rest of the crowd. Then decided to go up to chimi house and waited for the wind to kick in around 5:30 and scored a great sunset session. We got 5 cars out of the sand there. Everyone just kept getting stuck in the soft sand. But it kept us busy while waiting for the wind to pick up.
Sunday : Real had a Kite demo at Kite Point. It was light but we got some good glide sessions in. I rode the 16m LF Assault, 17 Waroo and a 15m Boxer SLE. We then headed up to Waves for a evening session in the slick. We pulled up to a Triple-S session. Sammy was just killing it on the slider. We watched for a while then pumped up and headed to the slick until it was dark.
