Well MI is still without snow. So what is there to do you ask? Kiteboard! Metro Beach, MI is no longer freezing over so we all headed there a day of kiting in Jan. There were 10-15 of us out riding. Going from 70+ degree water (85air) to 39 degree water (45 air) in three days just wasn’t going to happen for me so I got to ride the kite buggy for the first time. It’s a blast. I also got yelled at by the cops for doing my awesome power turns on the grass. We a few really good shots yesterday aswell.

The cruise was sweet. Im sitting in the airport now waiting to head back to MI. I rode @ 2 of the 4 ports we stopped at. I rode with Ed (from REAL) in Cozumel. Larry (from flint) was down there on vacation as well. We were very powered on 16m’s. Hate to say it but i like riding down there a bit better. the water was amazing, warm and blue as can be.

next port was grand cayman, but they closed the port cause it was too windy go figure. so i had to sit that day out and recover from the night before so i guess it worked out ok.

the last stop was Labadee in Hati. We got of the boat and nothing was moving. about 2 hours later the wind started up and cranked. It was possibly sketchiest launch and riding spot ever, but it was well worth it. I rode by 16m again for 3+ then its really picked up and It was time for the 13m’s. It was crazy i was a little private peninsula off Hati. The entire cruise was out on that beach too.

The third day of riding brought similar conditions. I was really lit on my 13m all day with a SE wind and waves. An 11m would have been the ideal kite for the day. We again got some good shots. The wind should be up again for another session tomorrow.

The first full day in florida was terrific. My grandpa and I hit pompano beach to do some kiteboarding. I met a couple really nice guys down there. I was on a 9m most of the morning then swiched to the 13m in the afternoon. Needless to say it was very windy (25+ on shore :). The heavy wind should last until tomorrow morning, so hopefully I can get in another session. My grandfather and I took over 300 photos today. Some did not turn out to great beacue of all the ocean spray but we got a couple good ones. I added 100+ to my Flickr site to check out. The ones of me my grandfather took the rest I took.

Hey everyone (KiteMI.com post),
Well graduation in a week away. I just wanted to let you all know that I’m moving down to hatteras. I took a job with Real kiteboarding in the media/marketing dept. So, ill be playing with cameras and computers like its really my job. Ill probably have to go kiting too. But I’m going to miss riding with all of you. I’m not heading down there until feb. So, hopefully we can all get together for some snow kiting or some boarding before I leave. I hope to see a lot of you down there on trips with Brian Lefeve, GLK and Klye of the D or any other way you can head down there. Let me know if your heading down and ill try and get some time off. I hope all is going well for everyone. I’m going to finish up the video after schools down when I can sit down and concentrate for a couple days and once I get all the footage.

The Shop put on their annual Midnight sale and snowboard event. It was a huge turn out. Much bigger than last years, without a doubt. This year it featured a scaffolding drop in to a wall ride. It was a blast! See some of the action below:
