We started our first full day in Israel by heading to the Old City. Our guide Kobi is amazing. He is extremely knowledgeable, fun and a great story teller. We walked there from the hotel by way of Gehenna, the valley of hell. We entered through the Zion gate. We stopped by an Armienian convent, St. James Cathedral, the room of the last supper and King David’s tomb. We then walked through the Armenian quarter, saw the ancient road that ran through the city of Jerusalem and visited the Arab market. Following a shwarma lunch and a walk through the Jewish quarter, we then ventured to King David’s palace.
We then hiked trough a water tunnel from the spring outside the city back into the city. We took one more tunnel which took us from near King David’s tomb all the way up to the base of the temple by the western wall. It was essentially the drainage path next to the stairs that went to the temple. We then hung out at the temple mound. Next, we visited the traditional part of the western wall. After dinner, we went on a midnight bike tour through Jerusalem and the Old City which was amazing!
