• East Tawas Michigan Weekend

I made the trip up to East Tawas Michigan for a weekend of kiteboarding and camping. Tawas was where I first learned to kiteboard, so I really enjoy riding there. The wind didn’t show the way we expected, but we got in a few hours of light wind kiting. I rode my 12m Liquid Force Envy on long lines and the Contact board and boots and was some how keeping up with the guys on big kites, cool! The sand at the point moved a lot making a new slick which will be insane for flat water riding!

The bird watchers were out in full force so I did some birdwatchers watching. With great sunsets, blue skies and perfectly clear water, it was a spectacular weekend weather-wise. The entire crew camped out in the woods and adventured around Tawas and the surrounding area. It was great to meet a lot more of the Michigan kite crew who started riding after I left michigan. All in all it was a terrific weekend and I cannot wait to ride up there again.

  • Kiteboarding Ohio’s Lake Erie

We stopped in Ohio on the way back from the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The wind was falling quick but we found a great spot to go for a quick session. By the time we got rigged and changed the wind was barely enough to ride. I gave it a few tries, down winding on each one. I can’t wait to ride here again, there are some great kickers and a terrific background for shooting.

  • SBC Kiteboard Issue #42

The 42nd issue of SBC Kiteboard Magazine came out recently. Brandon Scheid wrote an article on kiteboarding features (sliders, kickers, jibs), which had images of mine accompany it.

  • Spring in the OBX

We had an terrific time back in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We went kiteboarding, surfing and hungout with good friends. We also got to meet some of the GoPro Bomb Squad who jumped over the backyard of REAL. I also got in a couple good shots of the guys kiteboarding in The Slick, so stay tuned. All in all a terrific time!

  • East Coast Wake Park

Brandon Scheid, Rich Sabo and I made the hike out the East Coast Wake Park on a no wind day. This was the first time I rode a 2.0 cable. We all had a great time during a private session at the park. Other than a broken GoPro Camera and a huge failed rally it was an amazing day. Here is a video of the guys ridding the cable park.

  • Patagonia Summer Catalog Cover

It is a huge honor to announce that Jason Slezak and I ran on the cover of the 2012 Summer Patagonia Catalog. You can pick up your copy here. It’s sooo amazing to see all of Jason’s hard work in promoting the sport of kiteboarding starting to payoff. Patagonia has been absolutely insane to work with and looking forward for more to come.

  • Wedding in Gloucester, VA

Gloucester VA held a very special wedding this weekend. Our friends Ashley and Johnny held a beautiful event held at Warner Hall. We started the weekend off with a round of golf at Golden Horseshoe on a perfect spring day with blue skies and a light breeze. The rest of the weekend was spectacular hanging with old friends and making new ones and celebrating the marriage of 2 very amazing people!

  • Kitesurfing The Great Lakes

Today, Amer and I scored some great waves on the Great Lakes. It was my first time at this undisclosed location. We braved the chilly temps and dodged the forecasted snow and rainstorms to score blue skis and great wind. The waves were waist to chest high and we rode 7m + 9m kites until we couldn’t ride anymore.

  • Port Sanilac Kiteboarding

Sunday greeted the Mid-West with gale force winds. A small crew made the drive to Lake Huron in the sub 50 degree weather, rigged up the smallest kites we could find and headed out on a 13 mile downwinder. I rode my 7m Envy and 6’2 surfboard. It was a beautiful day with blue skies and waist high waves.
