REAL Team Retreat

Saturday: first day of the retreat
We knew that the weather was not going to hold off for us, so we took the mandatory session first thing. We all packed up the surfboards and headed out to an empty break. It was fun to session with everyone at once and get to try out all the new gear.  It got a bit crowded and with a couple collisions. I had a good time on the 11’0 Takyama Standup. We spent the rest of the day doing meetings then cocktails and dinner.

Each meal was prepared by a few different people each time.  Sam Bell, Shannon and I got to do cocktails on the second day.  Needless to say it was the best and most well prepared event during the retreat.

Sunday: second day of the retreat
We worked all day and then took our session at around 3pm. It was surfing and Standup again. We headed to the Frisco pier. We paddled out and sessioned for about an hour and the storm really rolled in. Once the lighting came near, it was a sprint back to the beach. Then it was time for cocktails and dinner. It was great to have time to hang out and relax with the entire crew at one location with nothing to do but play, drink, eat and tell stories.

Monday: third day of the retreat
We again worked all day and then headed out into the snow at 3pm for a very fun surf at the lighthouse. It was head, high clean and lined up. I rode a 6’6 Surftech Piranha.  As i paddled out next to the jetty it was full on snowing.  It was the first time out surfing in the snow.  With a very strong current, I made it about three laps before it was time to head in for warmth.
