Friday was a crazy busy day. I had to put together an ad of Surfer Magazine. Once that was finalized, I grabbed Trevor and a SUP for a quick shoot. We drove up to SDA and I had him take a quick session on one of the new Gerry Lopez Lil Darling SUP 8’11.

OBX Bike Week with Mojo Collins
Last night was the mid way point for Outer Banks OBX Bike Week in Cape Hatteras, NC. REAL Watersports hosted a party on the back deck with Mojo’s Sunset Café, in the Village of Waves. Playing live on the back deck of REAL was Mojo Collins and his band. They rocked out all night. I think it was one of his best performances at REAL thus far.

Nags Head Skate Park Session
Jason and I missioned north after work to meet up with Ed D’Ottavio (master skater and builder), who was in town for a couple days. We went to the new skate park up in Nags Head. I shot the guys for a while. The park was packed with skaters when we arrived, but we managed to get some good stuff. I really have been trying to minimize the post work by framing the shot the first time, and had some luck tonight.
As the park started to thin out and the sunset, I decided it was safe enough for me to give it a go. Ed and Slezy helped me figure out the corners and I started to get a line going. It was a blast and can’t wait to go back!

Evening Skate Session with Jason Slezak

After Joe Shriver’s Memorial Service, I headed back to work for a while. We then had an FCS Demo/Tech session with Nigel from FCS. He gave us all the details about the new fins and gear that FCS is releasing this year. After a great sunset, a couple of us went over to Jason Slezak’s House to grab a skate session on his ramp.

Joe Shriver’s Memorial Service
Today was Joe Shriver’s Memorial Service. He was a local surfboard shaper, surfer and better known to many of us as Vromom’s Boyfriend. He past away late last week. I headed over with Jason and Tommie to the memorial service.
It has been a while since I had been to a memorial service or a funeral for that matter. It really made us stop and think about how lucky we are, for being able to do what we do everyday, and try to enjoy life.
There were a bunch of local surfers that attended and it was good to see a sense of community and everyone’s respect for another surfer, father and a family.
Lulu asked that I come and snap a couple photos, so take a minute to look through them and remember life is short, have fun while you still can…
If you are interested in high-res or all of the images please just shoot me an email, and i will send you a link to download them.

Kite Point Wakeskate Session
With a dying NE very early in the morning, it was a very mellow Sunday. The wind picked up in the afternoon a little so we packed the trucks and headed south to Kite Point. Sam was doing work on the wakeskate.

Swap Meet and Kiteboarding Session

Friday REAL had their annual Spring Swap Meet. It also happened to be very windy and warm. Everyone had a great day sessioning. I meet up with Sam Medysky and Craig Cunningham for a little lunch session. I shot them for a bit up in the Slick. After I took a couple hits on the REAL Dock, while Sam took some shots (thanks buddy). After work the crew headed up to the Slick again. Brandon Scheid, Eric Rienstra, Brian Smith, Jason Slezak, Ryan Evans and many others had an a great sunset session. Brandon was killing it with 5 double S-Bends in a row, and countless other tricks.
Then I sessioned the dock again with the guys. As the sun went down, it was shooting time again. With the Summer Time Blues Band rocking out on the back deck, we had a great shoot on the REAL Dock Slider.

Its been cool to watch the progression. -
Sunrise Shoot in Cape Hatteras, NC

It was another great morning in Cape Hatteras, Nc. With warm morning light, but cool temps, i grabbed the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV and headed to the Rodanthe Pier to shoot the sunrise. After a great sunrise with the pier, I headed around the island to see what i could find.I’m really starting to love this camera. I have had a little issue with the focusing not being spot on, but i’m going ot play with some setting and get it dialed in. Another thing i was a little concerned about was the auto focus in low light, it just didn’t want to do it.
